A BIT ABOUT ME
Hey there! I'm Amanda Carlton, a makeup artist and mother to two amazing little girls. For the past 8 years, I've been creating stunning looks for over a hundred beautiful brides and countless other wonderful clients.
Makeup isn't just my job, it's my passion, my calling. There's this indescribable joy I feel when I'm working my magic with brushes and palettes. It's like I've found my true purpose (well, besides being a mom, of course).
But you know what really makes my heart sing? It's those moments that I get to hype up my clients. There's nothing quite like taking someone's natural beauty and enhancing it in a way that makes them leave my chair feeling like they can conquer the world.
I'm a believer in the power of makeup. Your natural face is already gorgeous, that's a given. But when we add that extra touch of glam for a special day (or hey, any day you feel like it), it's like unleashing your inner goddess. It's not about changing who you are; it's about embracing + celebrating the beautiful you that you already are.

No matter how many weddings I have been apart of, they never cease to surprise me in how unique and different each one is. I love witnessing the subtle ways each bride differs in how they express their love, and the unique bonds they have with the people they chose to spend this special day with. And I especially love getting to be the artist that they entrust to make sure things go smoothly on their magical day.

Let's be real here... I just love, LOVE. I adore getting to be apart of each celebration that honors love. Your engagement photo session should reflect just that; your honor to love each other in whatever way that looks like for you and your unique bond. The makeup artist you choose, should be able to create a look for you that allows you to fully embody the joy you feel during this.

![2025 was a year filled with such an enormous amount of growth + changes.
When I first picked up a makeup brush, something changed for me. I was in high school, I wasn’t good at it yet, but it clicked for me. For years makeup was something I did on off while navigating my own storms, raising my daughter, & surviving. I showed up inconsistently. I treated it more like a hobby. I was not yet the artist or woman I am today.
A year ago, something shifted. After a few years of intentional growth and honest reflection, I realized makeup isn’t just something I love. It’s my calling. So I made a choice to pursue this professionally, to show up fully, & to build a business I am truly proud of.
In light of this, I’m starting this year officially rebranding as Amanda Mitchell MUA. For me, this isn’t just about a name change. This is closing the chapter on who I was, & fully stepping into who I’ve become. Carlton represents a past I’ve overcome, a journey I’m grateful for, but not the identity I want to carry forward.
I’m sharing this as a pivotal point for myself, & because so many have known + recommended me as AmandaCarltonMUA. If you’ve booked with me through the years or just shown any support, thank you for being part of my journey. It means so much to me. I’ve stayed booked this past year off of word of mouth, & I am just getting started.

She rarely wears makeup, so she wanted to feel a little glam while still feeling like herself. I chose a soft, warm color palette to complement her beautiful features, applied two cluster lashes to the end of her lashes to open the eyes without feeling too heavy, and very lightly filled her brows to maintain their natural shape/color.
I prepped the skin with @firstaidbeauty facial radiance pads, and used @embryolisseusa lait cream as always.
Also someone during the day said she looks like Lily Collin’s from Emily in Paris, and I can’t unsee that ?

As a Pro MUA this looks like ⬇️
• Having a separate set of brushes for each client
• Using beauty sponges + powder puffs on that client ONLY and gifting it to them or tossing it
• Deep cleaning your brushes once you get back to your studio after every use
• Always using disposables
• Never using brushes on open sores/wounds (unless you plan to toss that baby afterwards)
• Never using the applicator in foundations, lip glosses, mascaras, etc. directly on your client
• Deep cleaning every single item, inside and out. This includes every nook and cranny in & outside of your kit
• I personally use disposable skin-like medical tape on the back of my hand to mix product and apply a new one for each client
I could go on even further, but you get the picture.
Maintaining these standards isn’t just about professionalism - it’s about showing up with love and care for every single person who sits in their chair.

![I saw this tip in a video forever ago and it has changed the way I apply lashes AND they stay on even better! ??
I put a dab of eyelash glue on the back of my hand or on a stainless palette (if you are applying on yourself and not a client, you could just use the applicator inside of your lash glue tube), and use a disposable liner brush. Then I use it basically like eye liner on the lash line, but only where I intend to put the lashes. Don’t line past where you will be putting the lash! I then apply a light bit of lash to glue to the lash strip or singles, and let that get almost dry. You’ll know it’s ready when it’s almost clear/blue looking (if you’re using clear glue). I then apply the lash onto the eye where I put the “glue liner”. Afterwards I use tweezers to kind of clamp the false lash with the natural lash. And viola! Your lashes are on and ready to party as hard as you ??✨
This technique is my favorite because it’s like sticking two pieces of duct tape together VS putting duct tape on your hand. Much harder to pull apart! ✨

![Bridal trial runs are crucial. They’re your opportunity to really get to know your bride, for your bride to get comfortable with you, and of course, to ensure you can create the look she desires. After doing makeup for over 100 brides, I’ve learned a few things to help make this day go smoothly.
1. Communication is vital. Talk to your bride, understand who she is. Does she normally wear makeup? Is she more glam or natural? Does she prefer certain color palettes? Has she worn false lashes before? When she responds, listen attentively. Be empathetic throughout your time with her. Learning who she is will tell you so much about the style of makeup she’d feel most comfortable in.
2. If she shows you a makeup look, don’t just recreate it without discussing the details first. Ask what she likes about it specifically. Is it the shimmer? The matte eye? The liner? The lashes? The lip color? As the artist, you may see things differently than she does. It always helps to fully grasp what she’s looking for exactly.
3. Be honest. If she wants something that you know won’t work well with her features, let her know gently. Explain why, and offer alternative ways to create something similar that would complement her. You’re not saying no, but rather guiding her with your expertise.
